Make a mark where the gum is between the two front teeth on the bottom of the upper lip. Then do the same with the outside of the two teeth at either end of the mouth. COUNT the teeth, left side and right side so you don't mess up. (Sounds silly but it helps).

Where you made the first mark, go to the point furthest south where the gum ends between the teeth. From this point make a small line curving in words but to the left, now the same again to the right.(Sometimes their will be a tiny gap between the two lines, sometimes big and so on...)

Repeat approx 3-4 times to the left and right between each tooth and remember each time the gap gets inconsistently smaller.

Follow the same approach for the bottom of the upper teeth.

Next step is to connect the lines you have just drawn. Remember each tooth is different. For those that seem harder to connect find the lowest point of the tooth. Make a dot here and then simply draw to your left and right as the image dictates connecting the the dot to the edges of the teeth. When drawing lines always follow this approach. Drawing a line that isn't consistent in it's curvatures can sometimes act like an illusion. So you mark the start and finish of the line and then each point the line becomes inconstant. It is kind of like a dot to dot drawing. Instead of drawing one line that curves inconsiatantly 5 or 6 times in one go, simply draw 5-6 smaller lines that connect.

Repeat all of this again for the bottom teeth. Once you are satisfied with the alignment and only then can you begin to shade and add further details.

It's got a Nagel-esque vibe, harks back to the 80s. I love it :)

She is lovely. The subtle pencil lines contrast so much with the vivid blue shapes. I love her smile, it makes her cute and I admire you you drew the laugh lines of her face (I can never draw that >.> )
Did you use pencil or watercolor for the hair? ^_^

I know it's abstract, but still - the face feels too wide compared to the chin and shoulders. It's a decent work all together, but that's what ruined the portrait for me.

That's because I chose to crop the face. The hair in the reference is nothing like what I painted, I wanted the hair to be free flowing to match the expression. I could have included the forehead and taken the hair in at the cheek below the left eye and taken the hair into the cheek at the tip of the mouth (right side). However I wanted the focus to be on the smile therefor cropped the height of the face and used the flow of the hair to enhance the expression. I could make the small corrections, however the openness of the smile suffers considerably.
